We are looking for an extremely creative Web Developer / Web Designer to join our team. This person will play a key role in designing, building and managing our web based consumer applications and web sites. To be successful you should have a strong combination of technical skills and the ability to manage several contracts with outside vendors totaling more than one million dollars in contracted hours of effort. You will oversee and directly contribute to creating interactive design prototypes, conceptualizing, exploring, and proposing new features, behaviors, and product enhancements. Additionally, you will be responsible for assisting in the development of proprietary source code for the user interfaces and business processes. As an early member of the team, you will be playing a key role in the evolution of the company’s products, values and culture. Your passion and enthusiasm for quality design and development must be evident in your work experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the design and usability of our consumer web applications.
• Work closely with Marketing and Customer Experience Managers to create prototypes for new product features and improvements to existing interfaces and web sites
• Collaborate with external software engineers on front-end integration strategies and provide quality assurance review of our consumer web applications and web pages
• Encourage new consumer product ideas across the organization, fostering a shared understanding of product/content/marketing concepts that are relevant to our consumer value proposition
• Be a user advocate who evangelizes web standards, front-end best practices, usability and accessibility
• Remain current on competitive product interfaces and new technologies and user-centered design methods, specifically those relating to web based software applications

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Minimum 4 years experience developing websites and/or web applications
• Demonstrated ability to manage a project team and hold external consultant accountable for performance, deadlines, quality and expenses.
• An exceptional understanding of fundamental web site usability best practices, standards compliant design, cross browser compatibility and user interface design
• Understand of consumer UI design and human factors/ HCI best practices strongly desired.
• Working knowledge of web search, personalization, and consumer product retailing concepts strongly desired
• Solid working knowledge of ASP, ASP.NET, C#, AJAX, MS SQL and other Web 2.0 technologies is required
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Visual Studio and/or Adobe Dreamweaver

Willingness to relocate to Massachusetts is strongly preferred but an exceptional candidate with demonstrated ability to success (and excel) in a telecommuting environment will be considered. A telecommuter will be expected to travel to monthly team meetings held in varying locations around the country (team meetings typically require two nights of overnight travel). Other travel to consultants, engineers and partners will be required as needed. Typical travel is expected to be approximately 5 nights per month but may be more.
